The Osteria del Leone, as documents testify, has always been part of the life of this ancient village. Located in one of the town’s oldest houses on the corner of Via dei Mulini and the square with the thermal pool, it has four welcoming, hospitable rooms and an enclosed garden, able to seat a total of 70 people.

The restaurant is characterized by a large entrance area with an antique bar, followed by three comfortable, brightly-colored rooms decorated with local nineteenth-century furniture and spacious, well-appointed tables set a reasonable distance apart, accommodating up to 40 people. In the summer, a pleasant inside garden, cool, well-kept, and protected from the elements, can hold another 30 people.

The menu features flavorful typical Tuscan cooking and changes more or less monthly to keep up with the changing seasons, but always maintaining some “classics,” local specialties like the hand-rolled long strands of pasta called “pici,” served for example with garlic sauce, or perfectly grilled Florentine beefsteak, according to some connoisseurs among the best in the area. A variety of goat’s-milk and sheep’s-milk Tuscan cheeses and homemade desserts, accompanied by a nice selection of dessert wines and liqueurs, bring the meal to a close.

The wine list contains about 250 labels, with a broad selection of the best Tuscan wines. Montalcino and Montepulciano are well-represented, of course, but other fine Italian wines are not neglected; all the wines can also be bought in the nearby Enoteca del Leone.

The staff is very courteous, young and pleasantly informal.
