In the year 1155 AD, the most powerful man of the time, Frederick Barbarossa, made his entrance into the towered village of San Quirico to receive his coronation as Emperor. This epochal event marked a turning point in the history of the village, and to commemorate it, since 1961, every year in San Quirico d'Orcia, an extraordinary festival is held.

The taverns of the districts proudly display their flags while the sounds and medieval atmospheres fill the air. The village transforms into a charming journey back in time, where the square performances of a distant era come to life before the spectators' eyes.

This annual celebration, held in the third week of June, not only honors the glorious past of San Quirico but also offers a unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich historical atmosphere and fully experience the magic of a bygone era. Every detail, from the attire of the participants to the theatrical performances, is carefully crafted to transport attendees back in time and relive the splendors of the Middle Ages.

Through this festival, San Quirico d'Orcia continues to pass down its historical roots and celebrate its cultural heritage in an engaging and unforgettable experience for all who participate.
