In August, Siena becomes the center of attention with the famous Palio dell'Assunta, an event that attracts visitors from every corner of the world. Here is the detailed schedule of events for the Palio dell'Assunta to guide those who wish to fully experience this unique occasion.

August 13 - Selection and Assignment of Horses:
  • 7:00 AM: Start of the "tratta", the selection of horses to participate in the Palio. The horses are presented and selected by the districts.
  • 9:00 AM: The horses are assigned to the districts by drawing lots.

August 13-15 - Trials:
  • 7:15 PM: Every evening at 7:15 PM, regulated trials take place where the jockeys test the horses on the Piazza del Campo course.

August 14 - General Trial and General Trial Dinner:
  • 7:15 PM: The General Trial takes place, the last trial before the day of the Palio.
  • 8:30 PM: Each district organizes the "General Trial Dinner", a convivial and psychological preparation for the race the following day.
