Our story began in the '70s.
After spending nearly two decades as a tailor for the most prominent Sienese bourgeoisie, Marisa decided to unleash a passion she had long suppressed: ceramics. Together with her husband Alvaro Giorgi, in 1979, she opened the first ceramic shop on the beautiful Via Del Capitano in the center of Siena. Thus, ceramics and its wonderful world, rich in color and fantasy, became part of the Giorgi family, captivating their son Leonardo, the current owner of "Antica Siena and Martini Marisa."
It All Started with Mom Marisa
Ceramics is a living thing that is born and grows in the hands of the artist like a creature; it's like a child conceived and nurtured until adulthood, when it is left in the hands of those who will care for it: our customers.
Then Leonardo Giorgi's Passion
It was amazing for me, when I went to help my mom, to see that from a piece of clay can emerge the "creature" with the shapes, colors, and shades that you have thought, dreamed, studied, and imagined. And even today, it's the same for me: it's incredible how we manage to interpret the fantasies of our friends and clients and how, together with them, we create unique items worldwide.
The Original Shop from 1979
In Piazza del Campo, there is the original family shop.
Here, the first Sienese ceramics were created, and here we were able to show the people of Siena our artistic creativity.
In this shop, we started what is now "Antica Siena di Martini Marisa," a business that has become an Italian-made production exported worldwide.
The Ceramics of Artists
On Via del Capitano, there is our first major ceramic sales point.
With this shop, we began to expand our ceramics business, involving new artists and master potters.
Here began our international fame, recognizing us as creators of unique pieces based on the artist's inspiration or the needs of our clientele.
